Hey folks! I’m looking to capitalize on a free weekend where I can dive deep into gaming and relive my teenage all-nighter dream. I really want recommendations for story-driven RPGs, whether they’re SRPGs or JRPGs, that feature party mechanics so I can hang out with some friends in-game. I’d love something that grabs my attention quickly and offers a decent challenge. I’ve played a lot of the classics, so feel free to suggest some indie or less popular titles! Just to give you an idea of what I like, here are some of my favorites: Dragon Age, Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, Fire Emblem, Persona, various Final Fantasy games, Yakuza, and Legend of Heroes. Oh, and I’m playing on PS5! Thanks!

Definitely check out the Xenoblade series and Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology; both have great stories and party dynamics!
Have you considered trying Dragon’s Dogma? If you enjoyed Baldur’s Gate, check out Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2. Awoved is also worth looking at! Divinity: Original Sin games are a fan favorite, though they’re not everyone’s cup of tea. If you want something more indie and reminiscent of classic games, SKALD: Against the Dark Priory is really cool!
You’ve gotta try KOTOR 1 and 2; they’re legends for a reason! Also, Jade Empire is fantastic!
Don’t sleep on Grandia! It’s a classic RPG that’s super story-heavy.
If you liked Persona, I’d definitely suggest trying Metaphor: ReFantazio—it’s supposed to be a pretty good fit! Also, give Octopath Traveler II a shot; it’s standalone and way better than the first one. Dragon Quest XI is another great one. Oh, and don’t forget about Unicorn Overlord! I’ve heard some chatter about it, gameplay-wise. If you’re into CRPGs, Wasteland 3 is solid too!
Thanks for the suggestions! I should’ve mentioned that I played the Divinity series and PoE games. But SKALD looks awesome! I’ll have to keep it in mind for when I get a PC!
