Hey everyone, I’m a massive fan of story-driven, cinematic single-player games that combine strong gameplay with amazing narratives. I’ve played nearly every big AAA title out there, and here’s my list:
– Red Dead Redemption 2
– The Last of Us I & II
– God of War (2018 & Ragnarok)
– Ghost of Tsushima
– Uncharted series
– Marvel’s Spider-Man & Miles Morales and 2
– Jedi: Fallen Order + Survivor
– GTA V
– Call of Duty campaigns (mostly the Modern Warfare series)
– Titanfall 2
– Tomb Raider trilogy
– Horizon Zero Dawn & Forbidden West
– Control
– Days Gone
– Death Stranding
– Resident Evil 2 Remake
– Ghostwire: Tokyo
– Spec Ops: The Line
– Almost all Assassin’s Creed games
– Portal 2
– Sleeping Dogs
– Wolfenstein: The New Order
– The Forest & Sons of the Forest
– Batman Arkham games
– Resident Evil games
– Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
– Watch Dogs games
I’m really looking for something with an engaging story and fun gameplay, not just a walking simulator or combat without depth. The most recent game that captivated me was The Last of Us Part II, not just for its story but for its amazing gameplay mechanics. I want something that truly pulls me in both emotionally and mechanically. I’m open to older or newer games, as long as they hold up in 2025. Any hidden gems or underrated AA games I might have missed?
Also, I’m not into Souls-like games or heavy RPG mechanics; I prefer grounded experiences focused on narrative and fluid gameplay. Thanks!

You should definitely check out the Bioshock series! They have amazing storylines and well-crafted gameplay. Dishonored might also be up your alley if you give it another shot. It’s got a unique feel and some really interesting mechanics.
Have you played GreedFall? It’s super underrated and has a good mix of story and gameplay. Plus, it’s got some nice exploration elements!
I’ve heard some good things about GreedFall! I’ll have to give it a try.
Try Nier: Automata. It’s got an incredible story, a killer soundtrack, and the combat feels really satisfying. Plus, it’ll definitely keep you on your toes!
Nier sounds cool! I’ll have to check it out.
If you haven’t played the Metal Gear Solid series yet, that’s a classic for story and gameplay. MGS1, despite its age, really holds up well!
I gave MGS5 a couple of tries but ended up bored. Just wasn’t for me.
You might want to consider checking out Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. It’s a great experience when it comes to storytelling and has some really innovative gameplay. Just be prepared for some puzzles, though.
I saw some reviews and it looks interesting, might dive into it!
I tried Dishonored too but couldn’t get into it. Just didn’t hold my attention.
