I’m really into the GTA series, both the story and online aspects. However, I’m currently on the hunt for single-player games that capture the essence of GTA Online—especially those focused on grinding for money, buying properties, and just generally messing around in an open world. While I enjoy story modes, they don’t quite scratch that itch I’m looking for, since I’m more after gameplay and the grind. Any suggestions for PC?

Saints Row 2 is a blast! Just a heads up, the PC version needs some modding since the optimization isn’t great, but it’s a fantastic open-world game similar to GTA.
You might want to give Sleeping Dogs a shot! It has some fun gameplay and feels similar to the GTA vibe. Also, if you haven’t played GTA IV yet, that’s worth checking out too!
Yeah, I’ve tried GTA 4, but I’ve never played Sleeping Dogs. I’ll check it out, thanks!
Ah, I get it now—you’re more into grinding than just following a story! What genres are you leaning towards?
When it comes to grinding, most of the time you find that in online games. But I’d suggest looking into survival games, like Ark. It has an offline mode, and there’s always things to do, although it’s not exactly GTA. It might scratch that grindy itch!
Thanks, I love Ark SE! Maybe it’s time I check out Ark Ascended.
Have you thought about playing GTA Vice City? You can buy properties and there’s always a need for more cash!
I’ve never actually tried Vice City, but it’s definitely going on my list!
I don’t mind some modding at all—I’m a fan of it! I’ll have to look into that! :)
