What are some good single-player card games like Yu-Gi-Oh's GOAT format?

-

Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a solid single-player card game that has a similar vibe to the GOAT format in Yu-Gi-Oh. I’ve dabbled a bit with Forbidden Memories, but it can be a bit of a grind, which isn’t really my jam. I’m looking for something where I can build a deck, play through a story mode, and gradually grow stronger to take on tougher opponents. I’ve enjoyed games like Inscryption, Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone, and Slay the Spire. If you have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate your input! Also, I know there are tons of mods for Forbidden Memories, but it’s overwhelming and I’m not sure where to start with those. Thanks!

This genre is pretty underappreciated, but I’d recommend giving *Pokémon TCG 2* a shot, especially if you find a fan translation. For some classic vibes, look into *Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers: Shandalar*. You might also like *Hand of Gilgamesh* from the SteamWorld series. Too bad there aren’t more titles in this realm!

Ever thought about trying *Poker Quest*? It’s got a unique twist to the deck-building genre that could be right up your alley.

If you’re sticking with Yu-Gi-Oh themes, you should definitely check out *Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution*. It’s got a great single-player mode where you can unlock new packs and cards as you progress, but be prepared for a hefty grind. If you’re okay with older games, the *Etherlords* games are pretty neat too, mixing story with creature and spell collection as you battle through various nations.
