I’m looking for games that allow me to play solo, yet my friends can jump in whenever they want without having any differences in gear or levels. For instance, ASTRONEER has this mechanic where you start a single-player game and friends can join without needing to set a multiplayer option. They only might have some gaps in knowledge if they’re new. Any suggestions?

You might want to check out Minecraft! You can host a server for free on Aternos and give your friends the address. Even if you’re offline, they can still join and play together. Plus, they can start with their own gear or you can provide some items to help them out. It’s totally flexible!
Sea of Thieves is a great option since it has no actual level progression, just cosmetics. You can play alone and your friends can jump in whenever they like without any impact on their gear or skills, which keeps it casual!
I wish the price was the same as in 2023.
Don’t overlook the Lego games! They’re very friendly about letting friends join in and out without messing up your progress. Also, Luigi’s Mansion 3 has similar mechanics where players can hop in without any fuss!
Terraria could work well too! The gameplay is largely gear-based, and new players can pick up spare equipment easily. Plus, it encourages exploration and crafting, so it feels pretty balanced for everyone who joins!
No Man’s Sky is multiplayer but sometimes it feels more like single-player with others around. It might not fit your criteria perfectly, but it’s an option if you’re looking for exploration. Just don’t expect a ton of cooperative gameplay!
I have to disagree with this. It’s multiplayer, but there’s really nothing cooperative.
Great suggestions, thank you!
