I’m trying to figure out which area-of-effect control spells can be combined in my gameplay. I recently used plant growth alongside spike growth, but they didn’t seem to work together as intended. It looked like they overlapped, causing enemies to either be slowed by the plant growth or to take damage from the spikes, rather than both effects happening at once. Any insights would be appreciated!

Consider using spike growth or plant growth paired with spells like stinking cloud, cloudkill, or hunger of Hadar. Those can create some nasty combos that really mess with your enemies.
There are spells categorized as floor-based and air-based. Floor spells won’t work together, but they can be combined with air spells like Cloudkill for a tactical advantage.
Cloud Kill works well in combination with web. It’s a great way to trap your enemies while dealing damage!
Spikes can jive well with wall of fire and cloud of daggers. Just make sure you position them right for the best effect!
I’ve found that mixing up fireball with another fireball tends to create a pretty powerful combo! Can really do some devastation in the right situation.
My buddy and I have had great success using cloud of daggers and hunger of Hadar together. We also knock back enemies with Eldritch Blast, but you really need a good choke point. You’ll want a warlock with the Repelling Blast invocation or a scroll of cloud of daggers from a wizard or sorcerer to pull it off.
You know what would make that even more awesome? Timing both fireballs so they hit simultaneously for maximum chaos!
