I’m looking for an easy first-person shooter to introduce my dad to the genre. He’s in his 70s and has always enjoyed playing FIFA, but now he’s curious about FPS games. We tried Call of Duty WWII, but it was too intense and complicated for him since he’s not accustomed to using dual sticks for aiming and shooting. I want to find him something that’s slower-paced and not too overwhelming, ideally for under £20.

Portal is also a great option! It’s not strictly a shooter, but it introduces FPS mechanics in a low-pressure environment, plus it’s fun and engaging. It gives him a chance to get comfortable with the controls without the stress of combat.
Have you thought about Battlefield 1 or Battlefield V? You can set the difficulty to easy, and it has a more structured gameplay that could help him adjust without being overwhelming.
Good point! They do have a quite extensive single-player mode which could work well for him.
Fallout 4 could be a solid choice! The VATS system allows for a slower pace and lets him plan his shots, although the normal shooting can get a bit hectic. I think starting with VATS mode will help him ease into the action without feeling rushed. It also has a decent easy mode, which is a plus!
I’d suggest Fallout 3 instead. It feels a bit more relaxed than Fallout 4 with fewer enemies at once, which might be better for him.
I agree with this. I tried Fallout 4 with my wife, and it worked out great for her! Just remember, the enemies can be tough early on, but VATS really helps.
Definitely! It’s an awesome game that could help him adjust before jumping into traditional FPS games.
