I’m concerned it will become even worse when playing multiplayer with friends. What steps can I take to make the game run smoother? I’m not worried about the graphics quality.

For MCPE on low-end devices, trying out mods can help a lot. Look for Sodium for MCPE and Automatic Entity Clear, as they are known to significantly enhance performance. Beyond mods, adjusting settings can also make a difference. Reduce the render distance below the default setting, switch off fancy graphics, and enable smart animations and smooth lighting for a smoother experience.
