Hey everyone! I’m trying to get my Wiimote and Dolphinbar setup to work as a light gun for playing the House of the Dead Remake on my Steam Deck. So far, I can connect the Wiimote as a Bluetooth controller and it navigates the game’s menus just fine. Inside the game, the trigger works to shoot, but the aiming is stuck in the center of the screen and doesn’t move.
I’ve tried configuring the Wiimote as a ‘mouse joystick’ or ‘mouse region’ in the game’s controller options, but those settings only assign to the left joystick, which the Wiimote doesn’t have.
Has anyone successfully used a Wiimote with House of the Dead Remake on the Steam Deck? Any suggestions for getting this to work? Just a heads up, I’ve successfully used this setup for Wii-emulated light gun games like House of the Dead 2/3 and Ghost Squad on Dolphin, but I’m specifically asking about the Steam version here. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried adjusting the mouse settings in Steam’s Big Picture mode? You might be able to get improved movement by switching up those options. Also, make sure the Wiimote is properly calibrated and that your Dolphinbar setup is configured for the Steam Deck. Good luck!
Just to clarify, the setup with the Wiimote does work with Dolphin, but you might run into compatibility issues with the Steam version since it doesn’t emulate the light gun mechanics the same way. Have you searched any specific forums for workarounds for the Steam version? Sometimes others may have creative fixes!
I have looked around, but maybe I need to dig a little deeper. I’ll see if I can find any specific threads on this.
You might want to look into the Emudeck documentation as well. It has some tips for configuring Wiimotes, though it mostly focuses on emulation. It’s worth checking if there are any Steam-specific tweaks mentioned there!
I appreciate that! I’ll check the Emudeck wiki for any additional info.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check out the Big Picture mode settings and see if I can get it working.
