Hey everyone! I just upgraded my setup to an AMD 9800X3D and have 64GB of RAM, but my plans for a brand new 5080 fell through. I’m considering buying a 7900XTX for around £840, as I play MSFS 2024 and a few other AAA titles at 3840×1600 resolution. If you were in my shoes, what GPU would you choose? I really want to run these games on max settings at over 60fps. Appreciate any advice!

I’m in a similar boat, thinking about the 7900XTX too because my 3080 Ti feels a bit outdated. But honestly, the more I read about it, the less sure I get. It’s a tough decision!
Honestly, why invest in a card that’s been out for years when new options are just around the corner?
I recently upgraded from a 3080 12GB to a 6950XT and then to a 4080. The performance leap to the 4080 was significant! I still use my old cards for other builds.
Are you using DLSS while gaming? If so, RTX cards like the 3080 are generally better in that respect, though if you’re okay with dropping some quality for better performance, the 7900XTX could be a solid switch. Just keep in mind, for MSFS, having stable FPS is key!
I steer clear of DLSS in MSFS; it makes things way too blurry for me. But yeah, in other games I rely on it to hit 60fps, which might not be necessary with the 7900XTX.
Have you thought about lowering your in-game resolution to maintain higher settings? It could ease the load on your GPU and improve performance!
I totally get that! For some folks, the more they research, the more they want it. It’s really confusing for 3080 users right now.
