I’ve been diving into weapon crafting and masterworking in Destiny 2, and I need some clarity. I’ve shaped several weapons, including the Enigma and Revision Zero, both maxed out. However, I’m puzzled about why I can masterwork my Watchful Eye to 10 with enhancement cores and then upgrade its tiers with prisms and alloys to earn enhanced perks. I have other crafted guns like Corrasion that I’ve masterworked to 10, but I can’t upgrade their tiers for enhanced perks unless I reshape them. Is there a fundamental difference between these weapons? Do some world drops come with enhanced traits while others don’t? Also, do I need to extract 5 patterns to unlock that level for guns like Corrasion? I often find guns that I want to use, level them up to masterwork, and then feel let down that I can’t enhance them further to a ‘red’ weapon. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

If your Corrasion was a drop instead of crafted, it won’t be able to have enhanced perks pushed to a “red weapon” status. But if you fully craft it, that opens up those enhancement paths for you!
So, Corrasion is a craftable weapon from the Season of Echos. You’ll need to extract red borders to craft and enhance it. Some older non-craftable weapons may get masterworked, but they can’t have enhanced perks added to them. That’s why you’re seeing that discrepancy!
Thanks for the info! I have seen some drop that I can enhance right away without crafting. Just makes it a bit confusing!
The key point is that for craftable weapons, you can only unlock enhanced perks after you’ve got the pattern. Most non-craftable weapons can usually be enhanced, but there are exceptions that haven’t been updated for enhancements. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly. Just know that enhanced perks provide only slight benefits compared to non-enhanced ones, so if you find a weapon you like with solid perks, stick with that!
Boom! That’s exactly what I needed to know. Appreciate it!
Got it! So it really depends on crafting versus drops. I’m still getting the hang of all this!
