Hey everyone! I’m experiencing some annoying issues with my wireless 8bitdo controllers when using them on my Steam Deck. Whenever one of the controllers loses connection, getting it to reconnect is a real hassle. Often, it ends up not fitting into the correct slot, and it’s seriously frustrating. I’ve tried switching out the 8bitdo dongle for USB and experimenting with different order combinations, but nothing seems to help. It’s such a drag, especially since I never had these issues on RetroPie. There, the controller slots would take care of themselves—if I added or removed a controller, the slots would adjust automatically. Do you have any tips or tricks for getting my controllers back to their right slots when they disconnect?

One thing I found helpful is to check the firmware of your 8bitdo controllers. Sometimes, updating the firmware can fix connectivity issues. Plus, make sure that your Steam Deck is fully updated as well! You’d be surprised how many problems can stem from outdated software.
Have you tried connecting your 8bitdo controller via Bluetooth instead of the 2.4GHz dongle? I had the same issue, and switching to Bluetooth worked like a charm for me. If your controller is unresponsive, just unplug the dongles and connect via Bluetooth to see if that resolves it!
Yeah, mine has both options too. I’m thinking that might be the best route! Just swap it over to Bluetooth when it loses connection.
