Hey everyone, I’m having a tough time getting F.E.A.R. to work on GOG. I tried launching it with the latest GE-Proton 9-27 on Lutris, but it keeps crashing at startup. I managed to get it running using older Proton versions like GE 8-5, but it doesn’t execute the echopatch, which makes it nearly unplayable. Does anyone have suggestions for dll overrides or launch variables that might help?

I got the Steam version to work without issues last Halloween. The only thing I had to do was use Mangohud to cap the FPS at 60, since it gets glitchy beyond that. You might want to try running it through Bottles, or add it to Steam and use Proton Experimental. Heroic Launcher is also a solid option if you own it from GOG; it’s worked well for me.
I installed it through Heroic with their ProtonGE a few nights ago and it launched right away! I’m pretty sure it was 9-27, but I can’t remember exactly. You might have better luck there.
That’s weird, I got it running with GE 8. Must be a compatibility thing.
The Steam version ran perfectly for me too. Might be worth checking if there’s any updates or tweaks you can apply.
I’ll give Proton Experimental a shot, but it feels like a hacky fix.
