Hey everyone! I have a laptop equipped with a 3050 GPU (6GB), an i7 11th gen processor, and 32GB of RAM. Despite this solid hardware, I’m struggling to maintain consistent FPS over 70, and sometimes it even dips below 30. I recently changed the thermal paste, cleaned the fans, and have my laptop on a stand for better airflow, so I don’t think overheating is the root of the problem. Currently, the game is only using about 40% of the GPU, 45% of the CPU, and 12GB of RAM. Can anyone help me understand what might be causing these performance issues?

It sounds like a confusing situation since your specs should handle these games without issue. Have you tried adjusting the settings in your games? Sometimes lowering a few graphics options can help stabilize your framerate. Also, it may help to check for background processes that are using up resources – they might be eating away at that precious CPU power you want for gaming! Good luck!
First off, what games are you trying to play? Sometimes, it’s more about how the game is optimized. And while you’ve got the fan situation managed, it’s also crucial to monitor the temperatures for any spikes. If your laptop hits 80-85°C, you might be throttling due to heat. That can definitely kill FPS. Make sure to check the games’ performance forums; something like R6 Siege and CS 2 should ideally run smoother on your setup.
