Hey everyone! I’m gearing up for a month-long trip to Germany and I’ll be bringing my Steam Deck along. I have a few burning questions about using it over there: 1. Will logging into Steam for the first time from Germany put my account at risk of being flagged or banned? I plan on using Airbnb’s Wi-Fi, but I want to make sure everything is secure. Should I just keep my Deck in offline mode? 2. If I go offline for the trip, can I still expect my playtime and achievements to sync up smoothly when I get back online? I know Steam usually tracks things locally, but I’m worried about losing progress after a month. 3. Germany has some strict gaming laws. Will any of my games be banned or restricted there? I’ve heard about certain games getting region-locked, and I’m not sure how that affects what I own. I’d really appreciate any insights from those who have used their Steam Deck while traveling in Germany. Thanks!

Honestly, I wouldn’t overthink it. I’ve had my Deck in a few countries like China and it worked fine. Just log in and play your games as usual. The store will show your home currency so you’ll be safe there too. Just make sure not to buy anything while you’re traveling, since it can lead to issues. Have fun in Germany!
Don’t stress too much about it! I was in Italy recently and regularly downloaded and played games without a problem. If you’re thinking about buying games while in Germany, just check their restrictions first. You might consider changing your region, but remember that you can only do it every 3 months, so plan accordingly!
Yeah, I read that changing regions can be tricky. Not planning to buy anything, just want to play!
I’ve taken my Steam Deck to several countries without any issues, including Germany. You don’t have to worry about getting banned just for logging in while abroad! Just be cautious about making purchases from the Steam Store. Your game library remains available regardless of where you are, so feel free to play your titles. Regarding age restrictions, they’re not as harsh as some people fear. Most of the time, it’s just a matter of new indie games not meeting certain requirements, but major titles usually aren’t a problem. Just be aware of specific laws about certain content, like Nazi symbolism in games, and you should be fine!
Thanks for the info! So if I just keep my Deck offline, it sounds like I won’t have to deal with any issues, right?
This makes me feel way better! Thanks for the reassurance.
