Tips for Surviving Expert Mode in Shadows

-

I’ve managed to reach Act 2 in Shadows, but I’m really struggling with the Expert difficulty. It’s frustrating because I’m detected almost instantly the moment I’m in the open, and when enemies spot me, they swarm me quickly, leading to my defeat. I’m finding Naoe pretty weak in combat; everything feels like a sponge, not to mention I still haven’t got Yasuke’s bow and rifle. I’ve tried upgrading Naoe’s assassin skills to help with stealth, but the detection meter rises way too fast, which makes it demoralizing when I get spotted before I can react. Usually, I prefer stealth play, but the game’s mechanics are forcing me into combat, which is just aggravating. Any advice on how to improve my stealth and combat skills without lowering the difficulty?

I get your frustration! But honestly, a lot of players find Expert mode not that hard once you dig into the mechanics. For combat, use status effects like poison or bleed; they’re super effective. Also, don’t forget to get the passive upgrades in the skill trees to enhance your weapon moves. Remember to break blocks with R1 and avoid getting surrounded. Each weapon has its strengths, so find what works best for your style! As for stealth, utilize kunai for quick takedowns and bells to distract enemies. You got this!

Totally agree! Status effects really change the game when you get the right builds going. By the way, have you unlocked all the tools? It can make a huge difference!

Honestly, your challenges seem to stem from not fully utilizing the game’s mechanics. Expert mode is designed to push you to learn these systems. Different armor types mean some enemies act like sponges, but breaking their armor is key. Plus, parry timing is crucial—get that down and it can change the flow of a fight. If you’re having issues with stealth, remember patience is key; relying too much on rooftops can get you exposed.

Right! Plus, adjusting your approach can really help. I find engaging on the ground works better and limits detection. Watching enemy patterns helps too!
