Hey everyone! I’ve been playing Minecraft since 2011 and have always relied on Optifine for optimization. I’m hoping to get some tips on how to increase my render distance beyond 4 chunks on my low-end machine. Unfortunately, I can’t install Fabric due to some hardware compatibility issues that I couldn’t solve in their Discord. As a farm builder, I’ve managed so far, but I’d really appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks a lot! :3

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve tried Sodium in the past but had some issues with Fabric causing display problems. If NeoForge works for me, I’ll definitely look into adding Sodium again. Poor potato struggles! :3
I saw you can’t install Fabric because of hardware issues, but have you checked out Sodium? It works on both Fabric and NeoForge. If NeoForge is compatible with your setup, that might be a solid alternative! Let me know what hardware you’re working with, maybe we can figure something out together.
Here’s a list of alternatives to Optifine, with Sodium being highly recommended: https://optifine.alternatives.lambdaurora.dev/. Since you’re unable to use Fabric, trying NeoForge could be your best bet! You can actually use multiple mods at once, so don’t feel limited to just one.
No problem! Hope NeoForge solves those issues. If not, just keep experimenting with your settings! You got this!
