Hey everyone! I’ve got some free time and I’m looking to jump back into Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. I finished my first playthrough a while ago, but my second one turned into a bit of a mindless grind where I just fast-traveled everywhere. Now that Hardcore mode is out, I’m excited to give it a shot! Before I take the plunge, I’m curious if anyone has any tips, tricks, or warnings about playing in Hardcore mode. What should I watch out for?

For first-time hardcore players, the number one thing is to always save your game and don’t forget to wear a helmet! Seriously, in both KCD I and II, enemies can take you out in one hit if you’re not protected. Also, keep an eye on your health, energy, and hunger levels; things can go south quickly, especially during tournaments. Take your time to smith, steal, chat with NPCs, and explore the world. Maxing out your scholarship skill early helps you find treasure, which is great for earning groschen. If you get into trouble with guards, don’t run away—just pay your fine and maybe pickpocket them for your coin afterwards. In combat, remember to pace yourself; learn the flows of attacks to set up master strikes.
Thanks for all those tips! You’ve really calmed my nerves; KCD always gets my heart racing! ❤️
Get yourself a horse ASAP! Most of the other suggestions will depend on the negative perks you decide to pick. But seriously, having a horse makes a huge difference.
Just finished Hardcore mode with all the negative perks, and let me tell you, don’t underestimate Alchemy! It made my playthrough way easier. Focus on leveling up your potion-making skills. Getting the right potions early on, like Henry’s Cockerel for avoiding sleep and combat potions, was a game-changer for me. I farmed flowers to quickly level up to 16 and could craft some serious gear. Plus, those poison-tipped arrows make short work of foes! Don’t forget to practice with Tomcat to perfect your master strikes and get a horse when you can!
I just grab all the potions I can find!
Great advice! I’m usually not into alchemy, but it sounds like I need to change that for this run.
But where’s the fun without a helmet?
