Hey everyone! I used to game on an Acer Nitro 5 with an RTX 3060, which was pretty solid, but after a year I lost interest and sold it. Now, I’m considering switching to a handheld gaming device so I can game more casually whenever I feel like it. Do you have any recommendations for a good handheld under 400€? Thanks a lot!

Check out the ROG Ally or the Steam Deck! The Steam Deck is a solid choice, especially the LCD version which is a bit more budget-friendly. The lower storage models are a decent starting point because you can always upgrade later if needed. It performs pretty well for casual gaming and has a nice interface.
If you’re looking for something smaller, maybe consider Android-based handhelds like the Retroid Pocket 5. They’re cheaper, around 200€, and can handle a range of systems up to PS2 for emulation. Just a thought if you want to keep it casual without spending too much.
I get what you’re saying about clunky Android gaming; it can definitely be hit or miss. Just explore some options to see what’s comfortable for you!
Have you thought about getting into cloud gaming? Services like GFN or Boosteroid offer subscriptions for around 9€ a month. You’ll get decent performance, and you might still have an old laptop or tablet that could work for it! Some services even let you play 4K games.
I’d try Boosteroid, but Luna isn’t available in my country. Do you think using a VPN would help, or would it just lag everything?
I hope the Steam Deck’s design doesn’t put you off too much! But if it does, the ROG Ally might be a better fit since it has a really strong battery. Just make sure it suits your style!
