I’ve just finished tackling some FromSoftware and Souls-like titles such as Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Lies of P. While I’ve enjoyed the sense of accomplishment these games bring, the intense effort and frustration have started to take their toll. Gaming feels more like a chore rather than an escape from life’s stresses. I’m looking for suggestions on PS5 games that offer a great story and gameplay but allow for a more relaxed experience. Ideally, something with a difficulty setting would be perfect, akin to a story mode for FromSoftware games, letting me enjoy the lore and secrets without constant rage-quitting. I’d appreciate any recommendations!

You might want to consider checking out Armored Core 6. It stays within the FromSoftware universe but offers a different type of experience with mech combat. It has its challenging parts but isn’t as punishing. Plus, the story is quite engaging and different from what you’ve experienced so far.
While not precisely fitting your criteria, you might enjoy exploring Death Stranding. It’s an experience more than a game, characterized by its intriguing storytelling and unique mechanics. It’s visually stunning too, offering a change of pace with a touch of challenge as well.
I suggest giving Persona 3 Reload a shot. Even if anime-style games aren’t usually your thing, the art, music, and gameplay mechanics might draw you in. It’s different from the intense action you’re used to, but very engaging.
Ghost of Tsushima should be your next pick. It’s got that engaging sword combat you love, but it’s way more forgiving than the soul-crushing experience of Souls-like games. You still get the beautiful world and story without the intense challenge.
