I’m really late to the Final Fantasy XIII game, but I’ve decided to finally finish it. I’ve managed to grind through all Ci’eth Stones except for 63 and 64. The problem is I haven’t been able to snag a single traphezohedron so far. I just realized that the big turtles, or whatever they’re called, are all those long gui and small gui types, and I’m definitely not strong enough to take them down. So, I’m looking for some plausible suggestions like which equipment to use, which characters might help, or other farming spots to get stronger. Or have I totally messed this up? I’ve seen plenty of suggestions but they usually recommend fully upgraded weapons or at least some decent accessories. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

To start off, max out Sazh’s highest strength weapon to rank 2. Summon something to cripple its legs for buffs and then go for the stagger and spam blitz. Alternatively, Vanille’s death spam can work if you’re lucky enough to take them down before they get back up. Once you get your first traphezohedron, give it to Fang so she can start decimating them effectively without needing summons.
When facing them, strategy is critical. I remember using ‘Deshell’ or a similar debuff, then spamming ‘Death’ with Vanille during my early play. Sazh has this blitz strategy, but that leans more on having good gear, I think. But don’t expect the Gui to be easy!
Think OP is on the stronger blue ones, and I remember Death not working on them.
If you’re in a bind, I found that farming the one in Eden worked well for me! They still hang out there, just be prepared.
Didn’t realize they would still be in Eden! Thank you so much!
There’s also another adamantoise in the middle of the Steppe area—be sure to check there too. Eden is a key spot, though.
Can you tell the difference before attacking? Thank you for the reply!
Aren’t the blue ones immune to death?
