I’ve been trying to recover my Xbox account for about 13 years, but I never updated the email linked to it. Recently, I’ve needed to verify that email, and since I can’t access it, I’m stuck. For the past four days, I’ve filled out the account recovery form every day, yet I haven’t heard back. Xbox support keeps saying the recovery team will get back to me in 24 hours, but it’s now been four days. Am I doing something wrong, or is waiting this long normal?

Unfortunately, it’s all automated, so there’s no human support to speed things up. I lost a 13-year-old account myself, and even with loads of proof like receipts and 2FA, I couldn’t recover it. It honestly made me reconsider using Xbox again.
If you’re in the US or Canada, you could file a complaint on bbb.org to escalate to a senior support agent. Not sure if that extends to your region, though. Good luck getting it sorted out!
I’m in Scotland, so not sure if that helps.
It looks like you’re on the right track with the recovery form being your only option. Make sure you’re entering all the correct details. Usually, responses are quick, but sometimes it can take a few days based on their load. It’s frustrating, but sadly, that’s just how it works sometimes if there’s a backlog.
I haven’t failed the form – I’m just waiting for a reply despite all my details being correct!
I wish I had a rejection or something! The silence is what’s killing me.
