Hey everyone! My friend and I have been trying to complete the Reaper Rivals commendation, and it’s been really tough finding other players to steal from. We’ve spent hours diving around looking for someone to take from, and most of the time we don’t come across anyone at all. So far, we’ve only managed to snatch about 4 skulls. It just seems so random if other players are even doing the voyage. Are we just having terrible luck, or is anyone else feeling the same pain? Any tips besides diving endlessly?

I think it’s mostly the casual players avoiding PvP that keeps the voyages from happening. My crew tried out the new missions a couple of times and got sunk each time. It totally killed our motivation to continue.
If you want to be sneaky about it, why not try sweet-talking another crew while they’re doing their voyage? I’ve managed to get a couple of my steals that way without too much hassle. It’s not as fun as stealing outright, but it gets the job done faster if you’re just after the task.
True, that gamble is real. But it’s worth a shot if you just want to get it done.
I totally get what you’re saying. It’s the worst when you finally spot someone doing the voyage, and it’s a full galleon and you’re just rolling solo on a sloop. And yeah, the grind for 50 skulls feels way too long! I had a similar experience where I interrupted a guy’s event and dug up six reaper chests that he buried because of me, but it didn’t count as a steal since they were buried. Such a bummer!
Exactly! It’s wild that digging up treasure doesn’t count as stealing when technically, you are. They should reward that too!
Right! Rare really needs to fix that system so that buried treasure is recognized as stolen if you dig it up.
Honestly, I feel like the whole commendation thing is a mess. If no one’s really doing the voyage because everyone is too busy trying to snipe the loot, I guess it’s just going to stay dead until the community moves on from it. I personally avoid that mission until it’s old content to prevent getting sunk all the time.
That makes sense. It’s frustrating that Rare encourages this cat-and-mouse game. Even if you find a crew doing the voyage, you become such an easy target.
I feel you on that! The game’s design does make it hard for players to enjoy the voyages when they know they’re instantly hunted.
It’s super annoying they locked cosmetics behind such a grind. Completing a voyage is already a challenge, and then to require so many skulls is just absurd! The whole thing feels out of balance after this season.
Totally! I wish more people would actually just embrace doing the voyages rather than camping to steal.
I know right? The excitement dies down real quick when you’re just dealing with the same old problems. It’s like they want us to suffer instead of reward us for the grind.
Haha, that could work! But there’s always the risk they’ll try to pull a fast one on you!
