Hey everyone! I’m at a tough spot in Oblivion where there’s a huge battle happening, and it’s kicking my butt! I’ve got my character to level 19, focusing on archery (thanks Skyrim!). I’ve tried this fight three times now, and I keep ending up with around 20 enemies chasing me. I’m doing my best to kite them and quick save whenever I can take a few out, but I can’t keep this important character alive while I’m dodging so many attackers. Any tips on surviving this fight and keeping my ally alive?

Honestly, if you’re really stuck, consider lowering the difficulty. It might feel like a cheat, but sometimes it’s necessary to progress. If that’s not your style, maybe take a break to level up your gear and come back stronger.
This is one of the issues with Oblivion’s scaling. As you level up, enemies become tougher, so by level 20 you’re facing the hardest versions of foes. Your best bet might be to lower the difficulty or use powerful spells and enchantments to get through.
I completed this at level 38. To keep the character alive, I shadowed him the whole time healing him constantly until I had the chance to move toward the objective. For my own survival, I had enough enchantments and a custom damage reflection spell.
Thanks for all the tips, everyone! I managed to get past it after reloading an earlier save. I stocked up on potions and focused on protecting Martin instead of just kiting. It was a total pain, but I finally did it! LOL.
I totally get your struggle! At level 25, I faced a similar issue where I couldn’t keep Martin alive during the Bruma battle. I ended up starting a new character at a lower level to tackle the main quest again. LOL, sometimes you gotta reset to move forward!
If you’ve got a high enough Illusion skill, casting a 100% chameleon spell on Martin can help keep him out of trouble. I used that trick during the final quest and it really saved me!
Definitely make sure you have some enchanted arrows in your inventory! Arrows of immolation are a game changer when playing as a marksman. If you need help with enchanting, just let me know!
