Hey folks, I recently picked up the Castlevania collection on Steam since I’m not a console player. I breezed through the first game, but now I’m on Simon’s Quest and hitting a wall. I can’t figure out how to use the items I buy—like holy water—since the controls only mention jumping and whipping. Anyone else tackled this on PC and can share how to equip or use items? Thanks a ton!
Edit: Problem solved, appreciate the help everyone!

For equipping items like holy water, just use UP+Attack while you’re playing. That should do the trick for deploying them.
To use items in Simon’s Quest on PC, press the equivalent of a start button to bring up your inventory. Use directional keys to navigate: a blue arrow will show what you’ve selected. You’ve got two item tiers—passive stuff and usable gear. The top holds things like the white crystal and Dracula’s parts, while the bottom tier is for weapons such as holy water. You can move the blue arrow around to select your items. Swap which tier you’re focusing on by pressing up or down. Also, if you get stuck at dead ends, try kneeling for five seconds with a crystal selected.
Congrats on finishing the first Castlevania game! That’s no small feat, respect. Simon’s Quest can be tough, but keep at it. Once you know the quirks, it’s a blast.
Simon’s Quest is infamous for needing a guide. It was made back when games came with booklets or you had to grab a Nintendo Power magazine for all those hidden tips. Using a guide nowadays isn’t cheating; it’s pretty much essential for this one. And playing on a PC compilation is a legit way to relive the classics—no shame needed!
