Hey everyone! So I’m having a rough time with the crossbow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. My marksmanship is only at level 7, and I can barely hit a boar from 30 feet away. I can’t tell if it’s because I’m a terrible shot or if my dog Mutt has a giant hitbox, since it sounds like I’m hitting him sometimes during fights. I really want to improve my aim and hunt bigger game than just rabbits! Do you guys have any recommendations or tips to get better? Also, I’m really enjoying the game overall!

Marksmanship gets much easier around level 18. You really start to feel more control over your shots. Plus, it’s totally satisfying to sneak up on bandits with a bow or crossbow. Stick with it! Practice makes perfect, and you can easily bump up your skills fast by hitting those practice targets a lot.
Good point! Also, don’t forget about those archery competitions—they help a ton!
To really level up your skills, try to use the archery ranges throughout the game. Places like Vostatek’s house have targets you can practice on. Definitely consider switching to a regular bow for practice since they have a faster fire rate. Once you level up marksmanship, you’ll get perks that can help slow down time when you aim, which is super helpful!
Yeah, the time-slowing perk is a game changer! Makes everything so much easier.
Also, brewing Bane poison for your arrows can make a huge difference in combat. Really powerful stuff!
Aim with your crossbow like you have another bolt on top of the one you’re aiming with. It helps with your distance estimation—just aim slightly below the target for the best results!
This is great advice! Visualizing the shot this way has made me way more accurate.
I had the same issue until I adopted this method; now I’m much better at hitting my targets!
You can also practice by shooting at archery targets even without NPC competitions. Just be sure to choose the right targets that give you experience! I sometimes shoot into the night when vendors are closed to refine my skills without any distractions. It’s super effective!
Make sure it’s a marked archery range, though. I kinda wasted a lot of time at random places thinking I was leveling up!
Yep! Vostatek’s range is a good spot to grind at night. No one around to bother you!
You need to aim a bit lower than where you want your bolts to land. Crossbows are tricky because they shoot fast and straight, but they drop a little over distance. Work on your aim by lining up your shots with some practice targets. It’s a lot easier in KCD2 compared to the first game too! Just make sure you’re accounting for the distance when trying to hit something.
Totally agree! Since I started focusing on aiming slightly lower, my accuracy has improved heaps.
I remember struggling with this. It took me some time, but practice definitely pays off!
It’s worth focusing on practicing in stealth mode at night too. Way less risk!
