I’ve tried to switch to Linux three times over the past year, but I always end up going back to Windows. Currently, I dual boot because I play League of Legends, but I run into problems on Linux that drive me up the wall. My first attempt was with Arch and Hyperland, but I found it too complicated. I also tried CachyOS, but I reverted to Windows since Dying Light wasn’t working and I wanted to play with friends. Most recently, I used Nebora but experienced choppy audio in Horizon Forbidden West. I really prefer Linux for its performance and efficiency, which is why I’m determined to make the switch. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to consider dropping dual booting altogether. I know it’s tough, especially with League being your game of choice, but when I fully switched over, it forced me to troubleshoot and figure things out. It was challenging, but I started finding apps and games on Linux that I loved and couldn’t return to Windows afterward. It’s a whole different experience when you have no choice but to adapt!
If you want to game on Linux, I’d suggest trying Bazzite – it’s pretty stable and has worked well for me. Just keep in mind that some competitive games, like League, don’t play nicely with Linux due to anti-cheat issues. While looking for alternatives, don’t forget to check ProtonDB for gaming compatibility and suggested fixes. If you choose a more user-friendly distribution, it can help reduce headaches. Good luck!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll look into Bazzite and ProtonDB.
It sounds like you really want to make the switch but are hitting some roadblocks. One piece of advice is to focus on learning the OS as much as you can. Each distro has its quirks, and getting used to Linux can feel like learning a new language. Finding the right distribution for your needs is key, so it might not be about whether you’re using Arch, Nobara, or something else, but about figuring out what works best for you. It’s like picking up a second musical instrument – frustrating at first, but worth it in the long run.
That makes sense! Switching distros just to find a temporary fix might not help in the long run.
I get that! But all my friends play League, so going full Linux is tough.
