Hey everyone, I’m having a tough time getting Warframe to launch properly on my Kubuntu setup. I’ve tried every version of Proton and the latest GE releases, along with using various launch arguments as recommended on ProtonDB. I’ve also reinstalled the game and made sure my system is fully updated. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Nvidia RTX 2070 Super, and 32GB of RAM. If anyone has any advice or recommendations, I’d really appreciate it!

Make sure you’re also running the latest version of Kubuntu. The 25.04 update brought a lot of improvements that can really boost your gaming experience. Don’t stick to the LTS version if you can help it!
It sounds like the issue might be related to how Steam is installed on your machine. If you installed it as a snap package, that could be causing problems. I recommend uninstalling Steam and then reinstalling it as a .deb file directly from the Steam website or using Flatpak. That should help Warframe run better. Good luck!
Kubuntu might not be the best choice for gaming right now since it’s an LTS version. I’d suggest trying a more cutting-edge distro like Arch, Fedora, or even Nobara for better driver support and compatibility. If you really want to stick with Kubuntu, definitely use the Steam version of Warframe and avoid the version from the Ubuntu store. That should make things easier.
I’ve been using the Steam version, but I noticed most guides on ProtonDB mention other distros. Thanks for that tip!
How can I check if it’s installed as a snap? I’m pretty new to Linux and still figuring things out!
