Hey everyone! I just started ranked with a smurf account and, not surprisingly, I landed in Iron. My main account is sitting at Diamond 2 and I’ve held that rank for a couple of years now. I thought breezing through Iron would be easy, but I’m finding it tougher than some Diamond games. While I know Iron and Diamond differ, I can see Silver and Gold players also having a hard time climbing out of Iron or Bronze. I’m currently rocking about a 70% win rate instead of the 85% I’d expected. Early game, I’m dominating my lanes, often going 3-0, but when it comes mid-game, my teammates seem to fall behind with terrible CS and overeager plays. It’s frustrating because I thought I could carry, but maybe my playstyle is more suited for higher ranks? What champions do you recommend I use for carrying, and do you have any tips for climbing out of this elo?

It’s totally normal to feel out of sorts in low elo! I’ve been in similar situations, and it can really feel like a lottery with ex-Diamond players stacked against fresh accounts. Low elo is tricky because it’s not just about your own performance; sometimes your team’s coordination is non-existent. You’ll be playing godlike while your team crumbles. My recommendation? Use snowballing champions and focus on carrying those rare games where your skill actually matters!
As a fellow Diamond support main, trust me, you’re not alone in feeling frustrated. For noticeable success in Iron, champions that scale well tend to shine. Think about picks like Veigar or Kayle. In low elo, teams often struggle to end games, so focusing on champions that can turn the tide later is key. Just remember, League isn’t a solo carry game; coordination can be hit or miss! Good luck!
You’ve gotten used to teammates that function well, and that makes Iron feel like a whole different challenge! Plus, remember, smurfing isn’t uncommon — many players are trying to boost their accounts too. It can be a shock to the system when you realize you’ve got to adapt to carry more often than not.
Right? You think you can just stomp the game because of your rank, but then you meet those unexpected players who just destroy the flow.
Exactly! It’s like you’re playing your best, but those bad moments seem to outweigh the good. The matchmaking really does feel random sometimes.
