Hey everyone, I’ve run into a major issue with my Steam Deck after attempting to set up a dual boot. I created a recovery image of SteamOS on a flash drive and booted into it using the boot menu. I partitioned my SSD, allocating around 162GB for a Windows installation from another flash drive. The Windows installation seemed to go smoothly, but when I came back to check on it, my Steam Deck was just stuck on the logo. Now I can’t access any boot methods, and even BIOS won’t pop up. The power indicator just lights up when I try to turn it on, but that’s about it. I’m concerned something might be wrong inside, but I’m not sure. I’ve left it on overnight thinking it might be doing some internal checks. Any advice?

If resetting doesn’t work, you might need to restore SteamOS. To wipe it, you typically would boot from a recovery USB, but I get that you’re stuck. You could try creating a bootable USB again, ensuring the image is correct, and then repeatedly spam the boot key when powering it on to see if you can get it to recognize the USB.
First off, a common lesson here is to avoid dual booting unless you’re comfortable with potential issues. Since you’re stuck on the logo and can’t access BIOS, I’d recommend trying to do a hard reset. Hold down the power button for about 10-15 seconds to force shutdown. Then try turning it back on while repeatedly pressing the boot menu button to see if you can get back in.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll try the hard reset and see if that helps.
How do you create a bootable USB if the device won’t boot at all?
