I just bought this game on sale specifically to play on my Steam Deck, but I’ve already experienced two crashes in my first couple of hours. Has anyone else dealt with crashes like this? Are there any known fixes or tweaks I can try before deciding to refund? I’d really love to keep playing since other similar ARPGs like Last Epoch and POE2 feel clunky on the Steam Deck compared to this one.

Make sure your Steam Deck OS and game are fully updated, and try verifying the integrity of your game files through Steam. Sometimes corrupted files cause these kinds of crashes. If that doesn’t help, uninstalling and reinstalling the game might clear up any hidden issues. I’ve played hundreds of hours on my Steam Deck without crashes after doing these steps, so hopefully it helps you out too.
If you own the game on Battle.net, you could try adding it as a non-Steam game and play through that instead. I’ve played since day one via Battle.net with zero problems. Not sure if that would help since you mentioned you got it on Steam, but worth a shot if you have access to another platform.
I’ve had the same problem despite trying all sorts of fixes — adjusting VRAM settings, switching Proton versions, deleting shader cache, the whole nine yards — but nothing stopped the crashes. If you’re open to trying other ARPGs, Grim Dawn runs really smoothly on the Steam Deck and might offer a similar experience without the frustration.
I actually own it on Steam only, so I can’t try that method unfortunately.
