I’ve been diving into a romhack of Pokémon XY to prep for the upcoming game, and it’s been a blast! This got me thinking—just like Nintendo benefitted from the Mario community through Mario Maker, they could really capitalize on the huge pool of romhack creators too. Sure, Pokémon is trickier since it doesn’t have levels like Mario, but I think it’s doable. Imagine if they released base games from each generation along with an editor to tweak dialogue, battles, and encounters. It would encourage more players to buy and engage with the games instead of searching for romhacks online. Plus, since a lot of Pokémon’s revenue comes from merchandise, keeping the community involved can only be a win for them!

Honestly, I’d prefer if Nintendo just kept releasing new Pokémon games. I want fresh content, not options to modify existing games. Plus, they can always make improvements for future titles!
I get your point, but making Pokémon levels would be way more complex. Unlike Mario Maker, where you can whip up a quick level in an hour, Pokémon stuff might take weeks to create something really fun. Just think how long it takes to balance battles and encounters!
You’re right, it’s definitely more complicated! But even with that in mind, it could still be faster than the current process for making romhacks, and the results could be really impressive.
They could cash in big time if they re-released Generation III games with a built-in randomizer! That could really spice things up for the fans.
Did you catch the part where I mentioned that it’d help the community? A balanced approach could both produce new games and allow for some modding fun!
