I’ve been playing the Minegumo since the Battle of Java Sea sale and I’m really enjoying it, especially as a torpedo boat enthusiast. However, I’m starting to wonder if the Type 93 torpedoes could use a slight speed increase. Right now, they’re at 60 kph, but I feel like bumping them up to 64 or 65 kph would be more competitive, especially in Tier VII play where they have the same 1.7 km detection range. Torpedo boats have been facing a decline in power recently, and with the new “Preparation for Strike” mechanic, it’s feeling a bit tougher. While the Minegumo isn’t a bad ship, the 15 km torps seem to fall short when matched against bigger threats. I’m ready for the classic Reddit roast, but if you have some constructive feedback, I’m all ears!

I can see where you’re coming from regarding the speed buff. Honestly, the Minegumo’s versatility lets it switch to faster short-range torps during battles. I usually go for the 15 km torps for long-range or area denial, but I switch to the 6.5 km torps for more close-range action. It really shines there!
One option is to use the commander skill that boosts torpedo speed by 5%. This can give you a slight edge without needing to adjust the base speed.
Totally! The stealth factor is huge. I remember one time a Minegumo managed to spot me first while I was in my Jäger! Those short-range torps keep a good balance when you’re in stealth mode.
