Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about the rumored PS6 release in 2027 and I wanted to get your thoughts on whether it would be smarter to just hold out for it instead of picking up a PS5 now. I’ve been a loyal PlayStation user for years, sticking with systems like the PS3 and PS4 Pro, which I still use today. Since I’m more into physical games, the PS5’s backwards compatibility caught my eye, but I’ve heard that the PS6 might even support older games than just PS4 titles. Would it make sense to wait a few years for the new console, even though I know the price will be steep? I’m curious if investing that much later would be worth it compared to the PS5 Pro now.

I feel you on wanting to wait, especially with all the physical games you have. But from my experience, the PS5 is just getting better and better with its game library, and you wouldn’t want to miss out while waiting on the next-gen console.
Honestly, I think it makes sense just to grab a regular PS5 now and skip the Pro. There’s still a solid couple of years before the PS6, and you’ll get to enjoy all the PS5’s great games in the meantime.
Waiting for the PS6 could end up being a big gamble. We’re talking about 2027—over 30 months away! Just get the PS5 now. All the talk about the PS6 is mostly speculation without much solid info backing it up.
True, but I kind of see it as an investment in fun. I’m just worried that the longer I wait, the worse the situation gets with possible tariffs or price hikes.
Exactly! I remember when I waited to get my PS4 and then had so much catching up to do. I’d rather enjoy the available titles now.
