Hey everyone! I recently scored a new RTX 5090 Founders Edition for $2,000, straight out the door. I’m currently using a 7900 XTX with a 3440×1440 monitor, which has been performing great for me. I’ve got it overclocked and undervolted, and it’s pulling around 415 watts while gaming.
Now, the thing is, I’m feeling pretty anxious about using the 5090. I’ve come across a lot of reports about power connectors burning on these GPUs, and while my PSU is a Lian Li Gold 1200W (so I have enough power), I can’t shake the fear that I’m risking a disaster. Is the 5090 worth it, or should I just return it to get my money back? Here are the other specs of my setup:
– AMD 9800 X3D
– 7900 XTX
– 64GB DDR5 6000 CL30
– ASUS B650-E Strix
Thanks for keeping it friendly! I appreciate the advice, and I really don’t want to end up wasting my money or causing any issues.

Try it out! If you use the right cables from your PSU and keep it cool, you shouldn’t have burning issues. People often overblow the risks. Just watch your temps and performance. You might just love the upgrade!
Right, just stay informed and monitor it closely. You got this!
Honestly, if you’re really not comfortable with it, returning it is an option. Your 7900 XTX is still a powerhouse. If you can flip the 5090 for a good profit, that might not be a bad move. Just don’t let the hype get to you if you don’t feel confident about it!
I say go for it! Nothing wrong with making a profit while you can.
Yeah, but don’t sell just because you’re scared. It might be worth a try!
It sounds like you’ve got some serious buyer’s remorse, but don’t worry too much! As long as you’re using quality cables and your PSU can handle it, the 5090 should be fine. I’ve been using my stuff with high-quality connectors, and I haven’t had any problems. Just keep an eye on your setup with monitoring software like HWMonitor to catch any issues early. You’re going to love the performance boost! Enjoy!
Yeah, just make sure those connectors are solid! They make a big difference.
Totally agree! Keeping a close watch can help ease your worries.
Exactly! It’s all about proper setup. Plus, the performance boost would be sweet.
