Hey everyone! I’m currently rocking an RTX 3090 alongside a Ryzen 5950X, and I primarily game in 4K and VR with my Pimax 8KX. I’ve been noticing some performance issues, especially with AAA titles. With GTA 6 on the horizon, I’m wondering if upgrading to an RTX 5090 would give me the smooth experience I’m after, or would I be better off holding out for the next generation like the 6090? Also, would my current setup bottleneck with the 5090 considering it’s on an AM4 platform?

Honestly, I don’t think there’s any VR game right now that justifies buying a 5090 just yet. Unless you’re a hardcore VRChat player and need that VRAM, you might want to hold off. Just my two cents!
Exactly! Plus, there are some games like Cyberpunk that can really eat up the resources too. If you’re not set on VR specific games, maybe stick it out!
From personal experience, upgrading to a 5090 would definitely give you a noticeable boost, but don’t forget about your 5950X! It might hold you back in some titles. If you can wait for the next-gen GPUs and CPUs, they’ll probably perform even better. But if you do upgrade now, you’re still looking at a significant improvement overall.
If you can hang on for a bit, I’d recommend waiting for the 60 series. They should offer a nice leap, and honestly, the 40 and 50 series feel like the same tech at this point. You could save some cash and get a more powerful card in the long run!
That’s a good point! I’ve noticed how much VRAM can impact games like GTA 5, especially with those high settings. Trying to future-proof a bit for GTA 6 makes sense.
