Hey everyone! I’m currently using a non-TI GTX 3060 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X, and I’ve been thinking about upgrading my graphics card. Micro Center is offering a trade-in value of $133 for my 3060, which would let me snag a Gigabyte 5070 for about $500 after tax. I’ve been gaming at 1440p and honestly, my 3060 has struggled a bit. I would have loved to go for a 9070, but they’re out of stock and way above MSRP right now. Given this situation, do you think it’s worth upgrading to the 5070? Appreciate any advice you can give!

That’s not a bad deal, but have you considered going AMD? I personally think the 50 series isn’t fully worth the price. I’ve usually gone with Nvidia, but next time I’m definitely leaning towards AMD for better value.
Wait, does Micro Center really take trade-ins? That’s great! Do they resell them or something? Sounds like an excellent deal for upgrading.
I upgraded from a 3060 to a 4070 Super and it completely changed my gaming experience—almost double the FPS at 1440p! If you can swing it, go for it!
You could easily sell your 3060 privately for about $180. It’s a bit more effort, but if you’re willing to do that, it might be worth the extra cash to put toward your new card.
I’ve seen Micro Center offer 5070s for around $550 sometimes, so keep an eye out for restocks; you might catch a better deal!
Thanks! I will definitely check their restocks just in case something pops up.
Honestly, upgrading to the 5070 is a solid move, especially for around $600. You’ll see a big performance boost, and given that you’re at 1440p, it’ll handle games much better than the 3060. Just keep in mind that your CPU might bottleneck the GPU a bit, so looking at a CPU upgrade later might be wise. Focusing on getting the 5070 now seems like a smart choice instead of waiting for something pricier like the 9070 that your rig won’t fully utilize.
True! I mean, I’ve been playing games at 1440p mainly relying on DLSS to get decent frames, so I’d love to see how the 5070 handles it without much compromise.
I wish! The only AMD option at Micro Center right now is a 7800XT and it’s priced at $589. Not the best choice for me right now.
