I’m curious about whether it’s worth spending crests to upgrade my Champion gear past level 4. Since those crests could potentially be used for Hero gear instead, should I focus on Hero gear once I have a full set of 4/8 Champion gear? Is Heroic raids the only way to get higher item-level gear after that?

I think it’s definitely worth upgrading past 4/8. The jump from 4/8 to 8/8 Champion gear offers a notable improvement. Plus, when you start getting Hero gear, you’ll be able to upgrade it to 4/6 using just valor stones, so it pays off in the long run!
It really depends on how much Heroic content you’re running. If you’re consistently getting a lot of Heroic gear, you might want to save those crests. However, if you’re only snagging a few Heroic pieces each week, you should focus on upgrading your Champion gear fully—it makes a noticeable difference, and you should have enough Runed Crests to do that easily!
Honestly, I think upgrading past level 4 on Champion gear feels like a waste of resources. You can get plenty of upgrades from Mythic + and delves—those are solid paths for gear. Plus, the weekly vault can also throw in some nice items!
Upgrading your gear actually saves you some crests in the long run. If you max out your Champion gear to 8/8 and then get a Hero piece for that slot, you can upgrade it using valor stones only, not crests. So, it’s kinda efficient if you’re planning ahead! If you’re already at 4/8 in every slot, you can trade 45 Carved for 15 Runed, but just so you know, you can easily obtain Runed crests from Delves and the last two bosses of Normal Raids.
Thanks for the insight! I definitely want to make the most of my upgrades.
