I’m considering an upgrade from my RTX 3090 to a new RTX 5080 since I mostly game in 4K on my OLED. Is the upgrade worth it, or can the 3090 still handle my gaming needs?

Honestly, I wouldn’t rush into it. I’d recommend waiting for at least the 5080 Super. It might offer better performance and value. Just to be safe!
If you’re playing 4K games, I’d say get that new card and test it out! The performance difference is about 50%, which is pretty noticeable. Just be cautious – it depends on the types of games you play because VRAM could get tricky. I sold my 3090 after nearly 5 years and got a good price since it’s still sought after for AI work. The 5080 runs cooler and is more power-efficient, plus you’ll get better driver support moving forward. I didn’t hit VRAM issues at 1440p ultrawide, so it should work well for you!
What exactly is the RTX 3090 failing to do for you? Make sure you have a clear reason to upgrade before diving in! Some games run fine on it at 4K.
Totally understand! That’s where the 5080 shines.
