I’m getting a new computer, and I’ve read that the BIOS needs to be updated for compatibility with the new CPU. My question is: can I install the CPU before updating the BIOS, or should I do the BIOS update first? Also, is it even possible to power up the computer without a CPU installed?

I had to flash my BIOS with a USB drive before putting in my CPU. Just check ‘m-flash’ instructions specific to your motherboard’s brand for detailed guidance.
It really depends on your motherboard. Some boards have a feature called BIOS flashback, which lets you update the BIOS without needing a CPU installed. But if your board doesn’t support that, you’ll need to use an older CPU to boot the system and perform the BIOS update.
My old CPU isn’t compatible with my new motherboard either, so I’ll need to do the BIOS update before installing the new one.
I’m considering the ASUS TUF Gaming B650 E WiFi motherboard paired with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor. What do you think?
