Hey everyone! I recently made the switch from Windows 10 to Linux Mint Cinnamon, and I’ve been hearing that AMD GPUs perform better on Linux compared to Nvidia cards. I currently own an RTX 3080 Ti paired with a Ryzen 5800X CPU. I’m wondering if I should sell my 3080 Ti and get an AMD 9070 XT, or if I should hold off for now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, generally speaking, AMD cards tend to have better performance on Linux. If you can sell your current GPU, you’ll recover some costs, which makes it worthwhile. But keep in mind that Linux Mint might not be the optimal choice for gaming, especially with an AMD card. You might want to consider a distro that offers an easier way to access the latest kernel and Mesa drivers.
Do you have a specific distro you would recommend? I’m not in a hurry to buy the GPU; I’m just keeping an eye on the 9070 XT since it’s new.
