I’m considering trading my RTX 4060 Ti for an RX 6650 XT and receiving an extra $150 AUD. I don’t play any games that use DLSS or ray tracing, and mainly I just play BeamNG.drive. I’ve heard good things about AMD’s driver-based frame generation. Given that I’m not into modern titles and have only used ray tracing once, would this swap be a smart move despite the potential dip in raw performance?

Check out the used prices for both cards in your area first. Here in the U.S., the price difference can be around $200, while it’s closer to $150 where you are. On paper, switching seems like a downgrade since you’d lose around 20% performance, but if you really need the cash, it could still be worth it. Just make sure it aligns with what you can actually get for them used.
Honestly, unless you really need the money, swapping doesn’t seem like a good move. If you’re just switching to AMD for fun or to grab some cash, it might not be worth the performance hit. If you just want to see if the frame generation is a game-changer, it might be an interesting experiment, but don’t expect miracles.
