Hey everyone! I’m looking for some advice as I’m returning to Guild Wars 2 after stepping away during the Path of Fire expansion (never completed it). I’ve purchased all the expansions now and I’m wondering if I should start fresh with a new character to relive that whole experience, or pick up where I left off. Which expansion should I focus on next after the base game? I’d really appreciate any tips you have!

I really enjoyed Path of Fire, so I’m on the side of sticking with your existing character. But if you think a fresh start might help you reconnect with the game, that’s cool too!
Honestly, there’s no single right way to tackle this! If it were me, I’d probably just pick up where you left off. Path of Fire offers a ton of quality of life features like mounts that you won’t have unlocked yet. But if the idea of starting a new character sounds fun, go for it! You can always swap back to your Path of Fire character later. The content will still be there waiting for you!
I’d suggest starting fresh with a new character! What you liked back then might be totally different now. Plus, jumping in right at Path of Fire could be confusing and disrupt the story flow. But do keep your old character for the birthday gifts you can earn over time. I still wish I hadn’t deleted mine without thinking!
It’s entirely up to your vibe! I started fresh when I returned a couple of years back, then switched back to my main once I was caught up. Both paths can work!
If you love your original character, definitely continue with them! You can always replay story chapters if you want to revisit. Also, if you unlock story content with your main, you’ll have to do it all again with your alts as well! Super important to keep in mind!
Wait, do I have to redo everything in Living Seasons too, or just the main stories?
If you’re looking for a Skyscale, definitely check out the Janthir Wilds!
I thought Skyscale was from Soto? What’s the deal with that?
Rule number one: Don’t delete your characters! Personally, I’d lean towards starting fresh and enjoying the entire journey, but remember, the key is to have fun and enjoy the experience!
Good point! And don’t forget, you can check out summaries of the story missions you’ve done if you choose to continue.
