I’ve noticed that while the Resident Evil remakes have been solid, they don’t always capture the essence of the originals. For instance, the remake of Resident Evil 3 feels quite different from the original. I’m planning to check out the original RE3 since of that. With RE1, the remake seems to stay true to the original and includes useful updates, so I feel fine skipping the original. I’m even considering playing both the original and the remake of RE4 because they just vibe differently. But what about Resident Evil 2? Is the remake so faithful that it’s okay to skip the original, or is it different enough to warrant playing both?

For sure, just play it! You might love it or not, but experiencing it yourself is way better than just listening to others!
Definitely give the original a shot! I played the remake first and still had a blast with the original 2. If you appreciate older game styles, you’ll love it.
Absolutely, the original is amazing! It really feels like you’re in a movie, plus it has tons of replay value!
Honestly, it feels like a different game to me. It’s good on its own if you can get past the modern graphics and gameplay changes.
The RE2 remake does leave out some parts, especially the A/B scenario feature that was a big part of the original, so you might miss that.
I think all the original games are worth playing! They’re classics for a reason, and they had to be popular enough to get remakes in the first place.
