I’m trying to figure out whether I should dive into the 2005 Resident Evil 4 that I already own or wait to play the upcoming remake which I haven’t bought yet. My free time is limited and I want to make sure I get the best experience possible. Is the original still worth playing, or would it be better to hold off and start fresh with the remake?

Since you already have the original, jumping into it now is a great way to get a feel for the story and gameplay. The OG version still holds up pretty well, especially if you’re into classic graphics and enjoy mastering harder difficulty levels. Plus, playing it first can make experiencing the remake later even cooler since you’ll notice all the differences and improvements.
If your playtime is tight, the remake might actually be the better first choice. It’s polished, smooths out some of the rougher patches in the original, and feels more modern in terms of controls and pacing, making it a more streamlined experience for newbies.
Heads up though, the original game uses tank controls, which can feel a bit clunky and take time to get used to. The camera is over-the-shoulder but the movement isn’t as fluid as newer games, so be prepared for a bit of a learning curve if you go with the 2005 version.
