Should I play Bloodborne or dive back into Elden Ring?

-

Hey everyone! I’m trying to figure out what to play next. I just finished binge playing Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3, and I recently bought both the Game of the Year edition of Bloodborne and the Shadow of the Erdtree edition of Elden Ring. I loved Elden Ring when I played it before, and I feel like it has endless replayability, although I haven’t tackled the DLC yet. Bloodborne is completely new to me.

Here’s where my dilemma comes in: Dark Souls games and Elden Ring all have a sort of ‘Sword & Shield’ theme, while I’ve heard Bloodborne is set in a different era or timeline entirely. I have a bit of OCD—let me explain. I wouldn’t skip to Dark Souls 3 without playing the first two; that’s just how I operate. So, I’m wondering if it feels ‘wrong’ to jump into Bloodborne before revisiting Elden Ring. Ideally, I wanted to play through DS 1, 2, and 3, then Demon’s Souls, then Bloodborne, followed by Sekiro, and finally Elden Ring, to end my journey with a game I can pour countless hours into. However, I’m currently on a budget and can’t afford the value titles like Demon’s Souls and Sekiro right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You don’t need to worry about the timeline! Elden Ring has no relation to the Dark Souls games, so it’s totally up to you. You could jump into Bloodborne guilt-free! Plus, if you’re curious about a potential Bloodborne PS5 remake, maybe that’s worth waiting for?

Thanks for the reassurance! I think I’ll go ahead and dive into Bloodborne first.

Honestly, no need to stress! Bloodborne came out before Elden Ring and isn’t even in the same universe. If you want to play Bloodborne, just do it! It sounds like you’re overthinking your OCD a bit—just enjoy the games. If you’ve already played Elden Ring, why not try Bloodborne next?

Yeah, that makes sense. I’ll give Bloodborne a shot soon!

There’s no wrong order for these games. Bloodborne is shorter and might feel less ‘evolved’ in terms of gameplay, so playing it first could be a nice way to ease into your journey back into Elden Ring. Plus, many say Bloodborne is top-tier, even if it has less content.

You’ve gotta try Bloodborne! It will really change your gaming experience. Trust me on this one!
