I’m considering picking up Black Ops 6 but I’m having a tough time deciding whether to give it a go on my PS4 or if I should just pony up for a PS5. I’ve got the cash for the new console but other expenses are looming, so I’m looking for some honest opinions. Will I still enjoy it on PS4, or am I missing out without that next-gen leap?

Before you consider a full upgrade, maybe try swapping the thermal paste in your PS4. It made my system run a lot quieter, and it might fix the overheating noise you’re dealing with. It’s a fun little project if you don’t mind getting a bit handy.
Got other financial priorities? Stick with the PS4 then. There’s nothing game-breaking about how it runs, at least from what I’ve seen. But if you’re itching for that fresh console experience, maybe grab an Xbox Series S. It’s a cheaper entry into next-gen and still gives you access to Call of Duty.
If you’re thinking about saving some cash, stick with your PS4. It’s not worth spending big bucks on a PS5 just for one game. I ran Black Ops 6 on my PS4 Pro and honestly, it played fine. Multiplayer had a few laggy moments, but zombies mode ran smoothly. If you’re okay with minor hiccups, it should be alright on your setup.
That’s reassuring to know. Multiplayer is where I spend most of my time, so I might just hold off on upgrading for now.
Honestly, I made the jump to PS5 for Black Ops 6 and found that I started exploring more games. It’s not just about the COD franchise, as having the PS5 led to a whole new world of gaming. If you eventually plan to expand your library, it might be worth going next-gen.
I did this and my PS4’s fan calmed down a lot. Definitely worth a shot before you drop money on a new console.
