I’ve got one of those old black first-gen Xbox Ones chilling at home. Since then, I’ve picked up an Xbox Series X and an S for other rooms, and honestly, I haven’t touched the old console for years. I recently updated it and set it up in my bedroom for some late-night gaming, but I’m running into issues: most games on Xbox Game Pass need to be played via cloud, and it keeps disconnecting. So, I’m wondering, is there any point in hanging on to the first-gen console? Do any of you still use yours?

I kept mine because it still has the Kinect and a few games I enjoy. I never trade in my consoles; it feels pointless to me. Just keep it!
I regret not getting the Kinect too! I’ve been too lazy to hook mine up, but I could play some old classics if I tried.
Honestly, your first-gen Xbox One doesn’t really offer anything new compared to your Series X and S. Sure, there are still some games that aren’t exclusive to the new consoles, but with the cloud stream, how often do you need another device just playing a few of them?
That’s my thinking too. I got one of the original consoles for my kid right before the X/S came out, and it still streams the games pretty well!
If you’re into any Kinect games, it might be worth keeping. Otherwise, it’s just a slower, outdated console.
I’d hang onto it as a reliable backup. My Xbox One serves as a backup for my Series X and comes in handy sometimes.
I usually sell my old consoles to clear space and earn some cash for new ones. With backward compatibility and emulation getting so good, I barely touch the older systems.
