Hey everyone, I’m in the process of building my first gaming PC. Initially, I planned to go with a 4080 Super, but since I couldn’t find one, I’ve shifted my focus to the newly released 5080. The only options I see are priced around $1,500. While I can scrape together the funds, I’m curious if that extra money is really justified. At the moment, the 5070 Ti Aorus Master is available for about $1,000, and from what I’ve gathered, its performance is pretty close to that of the 4080 Super, which I’d originally aimed for. I primarily want to game at 4K 60fps on my smart TV, and I’m not considering AMD at this point. So, what’s everyone’s take? Is the 5080 worth that extra $500, or would I be just fine with the 5070 Ti? Would love any insights!

You could totally find a good 4K 144Hz TV for around $700, which might offer a better experience than sticking with just 60Hz. Also, don’t get too caught up on RGB lights—focus on performance instead! The $500 difference between the 5070 Ti and 5080 seems pretty steep for a minor FPS increase, especially given the current market.
It’s wild that people are okay with paying that much for the 5080 while the 7900 XTX is available for around $900 and performs quite similarly. That said, if ray tracing isn’t a big deal for you, the 7900 XTX might be the way to go. I’ve heard about the issues with the 50 series, so it might be worth giving AMD a shot if you can find one locally.
Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, if I can find the 7900 XTX for that price, it does sound tempting. I’ll definitely look into it further.
Honestly, spending $1,500 on a 5080 seems a bit excessive when you have the 5070 Ti sitting at $1,000. The performance difference isn’t that drastic—maybe around 15% more FPS. If you’re really just focused on 4K 60fps, the 5070 Ti should handle that well enough. Plus, you could use the money saved for other upgrades or even a good 4K TV! Just my two cents!
Haha, yeah, I’m definitely a noob! But you make a good point. I think saving that money and sticking with the 5070 Ti might make more sense for my needs.
