I’ve played some major JRPG titles like Final Fantasy 7, FF9, FF10, and Persona 3 Reload. I have both a Switch and a PS5, so I’m considering my next move in the Persona universe. I’m super excited to dive into Persona 5 Royal this summer. However, I’m conflicted about whether to get Persona 4 Golden now or wait for a potential remake that’s rumored to be in development. I already know the identity of the murderer in P4, which makes me hesitant. I enjoyed my time with P3 and its cast, so I want to experience P4, but I also feel like waiting for the remake might be worthwhile if it’s on the horizon. What do you all think? Should I play Golden now or hold out for the remake?

Play Golden! It’s a complete gem by itself. I was also spoiled on the murder mystery, but it still manages to be an enjoyable experience. Don’t let that hold you back!
I’d say just get Golden. It’s one of the best JRPGs out there and you might regret not experiencing it sooner.
Honestly, wait and check out Metaphor or Clair while you’re at it. Those are on my radar too!
Same here, those look promising!
Just wait for the announcements, they’re likely coming soon. If nothing pops up after the summer showcases, you’ll have a better idea whether to commit to Golden or not.
Totally agree! If nothing’s revealed by early June, it’s probably not coming soon, so you’ll have a clearer choice then.
Yeah, for sure. But keep in mind, P4G isn’t a bad time if you decide to play.
If they do announce a P4 remake, it’s likely to drop at the summer showcases, especially around June. If that’s the case, just wait it out; if it’s not announced, go for Golden! It’s a classic.
Yup, I played the vanilla PS2 version and still loved every second. Spoilers didn’t ruin my game at all!
